Who are we?
About the Amelix Group… Okay, bear with us. Are you sitting down? You might want a coffee for this one, we’d recommend HatHats Coffee (well, we would wouldn’t we!).
So, who are we? From where you’re clicking it may seem a bit odd that in the past we’ve had a telecom, marketing, bouncy castle, education and a coffee company all under one umbrella. We get that it’s not conventional. However, we’ve always been a group of companies that operate autonomously and share the same core values.
We’ve had a very varied past which has made us the innovative company that we are. Now we’re focusing in our attention on our coffee business, HatHats Coffee, and education business, Amelix Education.
Louis Hurst
Serial entrepreneur, Louis Hurst, established the group’s diverse portfolio. Louis’ core motivator, that ‘the Amelix Group could do this better’, has led the group into many different areas. The common thread that runs through the whole group is a relentless obsession with customer service. We also operate all businesses with an entrepreneurial heart at the centre.
The group has clear demonstrable values and beliefs around integrity, understanding and empowerment. As a result of these elements, our companies are disruptive and innovative in their market sectors.
A passionate philanthropist, Louis was an early pioneer of the movement ‘conscious capitalism’. The founding principal of the movement is that ‘a business that makes just money is a poor business’. Louis lectures across the country on this, and many other topics. This charitable spirit has engineered social value into the businesses within our group.
What if?
Still with us? To the outside world, the variety of what we do may seem eccentric or even odd. However, when you delve deeper, you will often find a link. Most of the businesses within the group started with a simple question. ‘What If?’
What if a coffee company could make a really ‘Good Cup of Coffee’? And ensure that every element of the business has a positive impact on the supply chain?
What if an education provider could give relevant workplace training to learners? What if it could teach skills that revolve around commercial understanding and employability?
Proud to be different
As a group of companies, we are proud to be different. In 2014 we scrapped all targets from the group. We found them divisive and noticed that they bred lazy management. Instead, we decided to put our people at the centre of everything we do and gave them empowerment to make decisions.
We celebrate our successes in the same way we celebrate our mistakes. This allows us to learn, evolve and create without fear.
We live and breathe by our 6 Rules of Life. We apply these rules to every facet of our business. From coastal classrooms by the sea to our education business, from government communications contracts to our brand of coffee shops.
If you fancy a coffee, we’d love to sit down with you and tell you all about our story and the next chapters.
